Blogging can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it can also be a lot of work.
If you’re just starting out, it can be helpful to get some tips from experienced bloggers.

In this post, we’ll share some blogging tips and tricks that will help you get started on the right foot.
We’ll also provide advice for those who are looking to improve their blog in 2023.
So whether you’re just getting started or you’re looking to take your blog to the next level, keep reading for some helpful tips!
Let’s get started!
1. Determine Your Target Audience
Knowing your target audience is key to being successful as a blogger. You should be writing for the people who will love your work the most.

For example, someone who loves to travel will probably follow a travel blogger who often gives tips on the less explored regions that are not popular among tourists.
A beauty blogger could focus on those who are unfamiliar with makeup and teach them not only which brands are the best to use but also proper eyeshadow application techniques.
There are many ways to segment your target audience, such as by age, gender, location, or interests.
Having a deeper understanding of your target audience is key to developing an irresistible marketing strategy. By knowing what they want, you can cater specifically to them and have them returning time and time again.
If you want to be successful in online marketing, you need to identify your target audience and create content that will appeal directly to them.
2. Start And Build Your Email List
One of the best ways to get people to read your latest blog posts is to have a large email list. The bigger, the better.
Creating an email list is one of the most important ways to keep your blog readers engaged and nurture relationships with your followers and email subscribers.
It’s also one of the best ways to drive traffic back to your blog.
An email subscribers list is one of the most beneficial assets to make money for your blogging business.
In fact, through email marketing, many people earn a full-time living simply by having an email list.
Did you know that for every $1 invested in Email Marketing, you can receive a return of $36? That’s an ROI (Return On Investment) of 3600%. You would be hard-pressed to find those numbers anywhere else, let alone in the volatile stock market.
Not only is it an amazing way to make money and drive traffic back to your blog, but on average, people are 6 times more likely to click on a link in an email than they are on a tweet.
You are also 40 times more likely to get readers to your blog from your email list than you are from a Facebook or Twitter post.
That’s right – 40 times more likely! So if you’re looking for ways to get your message out there, snatching email subscribers is definitely the way to go.
Keep in mind that your email list is entirely yours; no one can take it away from you.
Once you have visitors reading your blog, you will be able to quickly build your email list.
Before you can start gathering email addresses, you’ll need to sign up for an Email Service Provider like MailChimp or ConvertKit.
Give ConvertKit a try with its 14-day free trial!
3. Learn Basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Many times, new bloggers will make the mistake of failing to optimize their blog posts with SEO.

By doing keyword research, you’ll improve the chances of your blog content appearing as one of the first results when someone searches for a related topic.
Furthermore, if you rank higher in search engines, your target readers are more likely to click on your post, resulting in increased traffic to your blog.
Performing keyword research should be one of your top priorities if you want to increase your organic traffic.
To ensure your site is easily found by the search engines, you’ll want to focus on including relevant keyword phrases throughout your content, but be careful not to overdo it!
One way to improve your website is by learning the basics of SEO. You can go through Ahrefs’ beginner SEO training academy or SEMrush’s free training.
If you understand how to do keyword research the right way, your website will rank higher for organic search results and draw in more traffic.
I’ve found that there are two main options that work best for my blog.
They are AHrefs and SurferSEO.
AHrefs is an easy-to-use, paid tool. After you log onto their site, navigate to your posts. From there, you can easily see which are your best performers with regard to traffic and engagement.
Not only can you see how to change your posts to make them Rank higher on Google, but this will also generate more traffic coming organically to your blog!
SurferSEO is another paid tool and very simple to use, simply paste your article into the optimizer to check that it meets the standards for ranking. If it doesn’t, it will show you what you need to do in order to rank in the search engines.
Check out my in-depth, SurferSEO review to learn more about how this amazing tool can help you with your on-page optimization.
4. Create Content on a Consistent Schedule
Hard work is key if you want to see results with your blog or anything else in life. There are no shortcuts to success, so sit down and start writing!
Although less frequent posting can turn out successful for some authors, this usually only happens when they have pre-existing large audiences from other sources, typically social media.
Consistency is key when it comes to blogging. You don’t have to publish a new post every day, but you should maintain a regular schedule.
Figure out how often you want to publish, then make sure to commit to that schedule. If this is your first time starting a blog, aim for 2 posts per week and slowly work up from there.
It’s easy to give up on your blog if you’re not disciplined, and this is what usually causes blogs to fail. Stay motivated and stay focused on your goals in order to succeed.
5. Get Involved in Social Media
If you’re a blogger, then having an active social media presence is mandatory.

Social Media:
- Can help you build relationships with potential customers or clients
- Can be a great way to learn more about your target audience and what they’re interested in
There are many reasons why it can be a good idea to engage with people on social media. By interacting with people on social media, you can help create a community around your brand or business.
This can be beneficial in terms of establishing trust and loyalty with customers.
In addition to relationship building and client loyalty, creating a social media presence will also bring more web traffic your way.
This will help to set yourself apart from competitors who haven’t joined the social media movement yet.
6. Create a Link Building Strategy
It’s tough to increase viewers for your blog without quality backlinks. On the other hand, if you want a higher ranking on search engines, make an effort to get links from high-quality websites.
You can drive traffic to your blog by writing guest posts for other bloggers, sharing your articles on social media, and forming relationships with other websites or bloggers.
Below are some methods you can use to generate links and establish authority:
- Guest blogging
- Answer questions on HARO
- Indirect Link Exchanges
- Create a ‘Link Bait‘ page
The simplest way to garner backlinks would be to become skilled at email outreach.
7. Pick A Good Domain Name
Choose a domain name that’s easy to remember and spell. To see if it’s available, check websites like GoDaddy or NameCheap.

In addition, make sure to choose a niche that doesn’t confine you so that if/when you decide you need to go another direction, the process will be simpler.
It’s essential to have a domain name that is a good fit for your blog or business, but it’s also crucial to make sure that it is SEO-friendly.
8. Be Sure You’re Passionate About Your Niche
When selecting a niche to focus on, make sure it is something that you are passionate about. Don’t consider a niche strictly for its profit margin. You’ll be more successful if you pursue something that genuinely interests and motivates you to continue to write!
When you write about something that you’re passionate about and fills you with enthusiasm, it makes the act of creating blog posts much more fun
Furthermore, your readers will be able to pick up on the energy in your writing and become attracted to what you have to say.
Not only that, but your viewers will more likely become more appreciative of your content and your opinions, as well as develop trust in whatever you’re trying to convey in your blog content.
9. Don’t Be a Perfectionist
There’s no such thing as a perfect blog post. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, just fix them and move on.
Something else to consider; for beginners, it would be good to create a “Minimum Viable Blog Post,” which is another way of saying don’t try and write a super-long, perfect post with the hopes of ranking on the first page of Google.
As a beginner blogger, the chances of your articles being read are slim to none, so work on getting content on your blog, and don’t worry too much about perfecting it.
Get a post that’s at least 2000 words published and move on to come back to it and update it later, adding more content, etc.
If you’re a new blogger, my best tips are to write frequently and develop your own unique voice and style. Blogs that feel more personal often outperform those formatted like research papers.
10. Write for Search Intent
The content you write should serve a purpose and appeal to the needs of your potential reader.
The reason behind someone’s online search is called Search Intent. It is simply “The WHY” of an online search.
For example, when somebody uses the internet, they are looking for something specific, and Search Intent tries to identify what that thing might be.
The way people search affects what kind of content comes up, as well as how that content is monetized.
For example, if you’re writing about WordPress themes and want someone to purchase a recommended WordPress theme, you might consider including keywords like “Best WordPress Themes” and “How to Choose a WordPress Theme.”
11. Use Only Essential Plugins
The last thing you need is useless plugins that will slow down your site or create more problems.
Although you may feel having one additional plugin won’t affect your website, too many plugins will drag down the speed of your site.
NOTE: You should try and keep your total of plugins to less than 20.
If you have 10 or more WordPress plugins installed, look at them closely and determine if they are truly necessary for your business.
If they don’t do anything for your business, get rid of them.
Here’s a list of essential plugins:
- Caching plugin for files
- SEO plugin to help with analytics, sitemaps, optimization, and more
- Image Optimization plugin (unless you have Photoshop or similar)
- Security plugin for anti-virus, firewall, and malware
- Social Sharing plugin to help with social media sharing
- Affiliate Link plugin to help keep track of clicks and your links
- Contact Form plugin for readers to contact you
For a full list of plugins that are vital to keeping your blog optimized for search engines, safe from hackers, along with improving your site’s speed, follow the link for the essential WordPress plugins I’ve been using for years.
12. Learn About Affiliate Marketing & Get Started
If you want to earn revenue from your blog, affiliate marketing is non-negotiable. You’ll need to learn as much about affiliate marketing as a business owner as you possibly can.

As your blog grows, start joining affiliate programs so you can add links to your content that represents the product or service you’ve applied for.
After you’re approved by the affiliate network, you’ll be given unique links to use on your blog. You can integrate these links into your blog content, attach them to photos, along with videos.
By adding affiliate links to products or services that you promote in your blog posts, your readers can purchase what you’re advertising with just a few clicks. In return, you’ll get a commission from that sale!
13. Optimize Your Affiliate Links with Opt-Ins
To increase the number of conversions from your articles, focus on copywriting, buttons that look more appealing, Call-to-Action’s, and blog post titles that readers can’t help but click.
You can optimize each article by ensuring the title includes relevant keywords. Use a blog post headline analyzer tool to confirm this.
The call-to-action I prefer the most is an exit intent pop-up form, which you can see below.

If exit-intent popup forms aren’t your thing, there are others you can use to increase your click-through rate.
A few other options are:
- Blog posts, In-Line Opt-In forms
- Scroll Mats
- Sidebar Widget box
- Full-Screen overlay
- Slide-In Forms
Experiment with various types of forms to see which one works better for you.
14. Create a Lead Magnet to Boost Your Email List
Incentives are uncommon on websites to join their email list. More often, you’ll see something like, “Subscribe to our free newsletter.”
If your website doesn’t rank high in comparison to others in your industry, you’ll probably have a conversion rate below 1%.
But, if you use a lead magnet instead, you could see conversions increase by as much as 7%. With an especially good offer, the results could be even better.
lead magnets are effective because almost everyone loves freebies, especially if it’s something they need and can’t find anywhere else.
The conversions on your website will largely depend on the type of lead magnet you choose as well as how and where you place it on your blog.
15. Write for The Skimmers
It’s a fact that over 70% of visitors to your blog will skim the content rather than read it thoroughly. That’s why it’s important to make sure when start writing blog posts, they are scannable.
To improve readability, use bold headings and subheadings, numbered lists, and bullet lists. Also, keep sentences and paragraphs short. In some cases, one-sentence paragraphs can be used to grab readers’ attention.
The purpose of this is to make your content more accessible for skimmers by removing the large blocks of text. This will give them a better idea of what your content is about and make it easier for them to read.
16. Include Videos Within Your Blog Posts
As YouTube is owned by Google, you should make sure to include videos in your posts. This will help improve your website ranking.

Now, it’s not a requirement, but it sure will help.
I suggest using Screenflow or Camtasia, or a similar program to record video tutorials. By doing this, you can embed the videos into your posts when you’re ready to publish them.
17. Repurpose Content into YouTube Videos
YouTube can be a great platform for new bloggers to get started, but it may be a little scary to speak in front of a camera.
Achieving a popular YouTube channel is an excellent goal for many bloggers.
For example, if you’re a blogger who wants to become an authority on a subject, having an established YouTube channel can help create trust among your audience.
Some of the world’s most famous people have YouTube channels with millions of subscribers.
18. Treat Your Blog Like a Business
If you want your blog to be a raging success, you need to make sure you’re treating it like a business, not a hobby.
What does this mean? Well, it means you must:
- Come up with a business plan to include goals and strategies
- Establish committed work hours
- Be consistent with blog content and promotions
- Formulate a monetization plan for making money
- Continuously assess what is and isn’t working
To stay on track, set objectives for your blog and impose deadlines to guarantee that you’re making headway. Establishing these goals will help keep the important things in focus while ensuring a timely progression.
To generate a passive income for your blog, you can sell affiliate products, launch your own product line, offer services, or place ads!
If you’re aiming to make a substantial income with your Blog, it’s time for you to take charge and treat it like a business, with you at the helm, as the CEO of your company.
If you get serious about your blog from the start, you can quickly leave behind hobby bloggers who never make a dime.
19. Create a Content Calendar (Editorial Calendar)
A content calendar, also known as an editorial calendar, is a helpful way to organize your thoughts and plan for writing blog posts.
Having an editorial calendar will help you create a content plan, which will improve both your blog’s quality and how frequently you’re able to post. The time frame for which you plan your content in advance is entirely up to you.
I only plan one month in advance, but you should figure out what timeline works for your website.
You can use anything you want to make an editorial calendar, including an actual calendar, an app on your phone, or even a Google Sheets or Excel spreadsheet. It’s pretty much whatever works for you personally.
If you use WordPress, all you have to do is search ‘Content Calendar’ in your WordPress dashboard under the Plugins tab > Add New.
Another option, do it the old-fashioned way – find a blogger that has created a content calendar and follow their lead.
Here’s a Content Calendar Download from CoSchedule.com, free for the taking (email address required).
20. Install Google Analytics
In order to accurately gauge your website’s performance, Google Analytics must be installed on your blog.

Not only is this analytics tool free, but it’s also one of the best website owner tools out there! I highly recommend it because you can get specific data about your website visitors that most other tools don’t provide.
35,136,145 current internet users take advantage of Google Analytics to better understand their audience and to get more out of their website.
Tracking key data points helps you understand your target market and makes it easier to reach and serve them.
Google Analytics not only allows you to improve user experience and increase conversions but also to understand which devices your audience is using.
21. Identify and Keep an Eye On Your Competition
Learning from your competitors is essential to your success.
Checking up on the competition and reading blogs that you like are both strategies that will be good for your business.
Here are some reasons to keep an eye on your competition:
- So you can learn from their mistakes.
- To see what new strategies they’re implementing and how you can adapt them for your own website.
- To track any changes in their marketing strategy (including audience targeting, content, etc.).
- To understand what’s resonating with their audience and figure out how you can incorporate similar elements into your own blog posts.
- To monitor their progress and see if they’re starting to overtake your website in the search engine rankings.
To start, figure out who your closest and most successful competitors are. Once you’ve done that, take a look at their site to see what you can learn from it.
If you’re looking for a top-notch competitive analysis tool, then Spyfu is a good choice.
Simply enter your website’s address URL, and it will give you a list of all your competitors.
Take a look at the top websites and analyze their blog design, content, social media presence, etc.
After that, use SEMrush and Ubersuggest to dig deeper into what your competitors are doing. This includes stuff like the keywords they’re ranking for, their most popular posts, and more.
After you learn about your competitors, improve upon their strategies to give yourself an edge.
22. Connect with Influencers
If you aren’t familiar with schmoozing influencers, it’s simply getting to know popular bloggers, podcasters, and social media experts, as well as entrepreneurial leaders within your field.
If you want increased traffic to your blog, making friends with influencers in your niche is a great strategy.
I’m sure you’ve heard it before, “It’s not what you know – it’s who you know.”
Not only will you gain insights by getting to know these successful bloggers, but you’ll also find that most of them are more than willing to help you achieve success as well.
It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. In most cases, it’s better for them.
Here’s how they look at it. If an authoritative blogger has helped you succeed or has amazing content or training that guides you toward your goal, you’d be willing to tell a friend about him or her, right?
What better way to increase their following, along with their email opt-ins and their bottom line, all because you told a friend about their genius works?
If you stalk them (legally of course), you’ll find out from their actions, what’s working and what’s not.
This can help you overcome hurdles with your blog, increasing your chances for blogging success because of their trial and error efforts.
As a general rule, entrepreneurs have failed more than they’ve succeeded. If there’s something you want to do and they aren’t doing it, the odds of it working are pretty low.
23. Use A Table Of Contents
Longer articles often contain more in-depth content and perform better with search engines. But, they are not always easy to read, especially when readers only want a few crucial details from your post.
Adding a table of contents to your blog posts can be helpful for your readers, as it allows them to quickly and easily navigate to the section of the post that they’re interested in.
It can also be helpful for you as a blogger. It can help you keep track of the structure of your posts and make it easier to edit and update.
There are a number of different ways to create a table of contents for your blog posts, and which method you choose will depend on the blogging platform that you use and the type of content that you publish.
Here are a couple of tips to create a table of contents for your blog posts:
- Use headings and Subheadings – One of the best ways to create a table of contents is to use headings and subheadings to organize your content. This will make it easier for both you and your readers to navigate through your posts.
- Use an Automatic Table of Contents Generator – If you’re not comfortable creating a table of contents manually, there are a number of tools available that can help you automatically generate a TOC for your posts. Simply do a search for “Table of Contents” within your plugins section.
24. Choosing the Best Blogging Platform
To get your blogging journey off to the right start, be sure to choose the best blogging platform that aligns with your goals.

While some new bloggers may be tempted to opt for free options such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com in order to save money upfront, these free platforms may not provide all of the tools and features you need for long-term success.
By utilizing one of the free blogging platforms, you are restricting yourself to full control over your blog. Additionally, there is limited opportunity to customize the layout and design, not to mention that it’s nearly impossible to make money off of a free blogging platform.
For this reason, we suggest you utilize WordPress.org to launch a new blog.
WordPress.org is the leading open-source (free to use) global blogging platform, making it incredibly simple to use and customize your website while still being capable of monetizing your blog to make money.
With WordPress.org, you can create any type of WordPress blog you can imagine with a unique design that will capture the attention of audiences worldwide. And it’s completely free!
All that is required are hosting fees, which are minimal in comparison to the number of features available to create the blog of your dreams.
25. Use a Caching Plugin
With our human attention span being less than that of a Goldfish, people are short on time and don’t want to wait around for your page to load.
The loading speed of your site is also one of the many ranking factors in Google too.
If your website loads slowly, not only will Google lower your rankings, but chances are pretty high that potential visitors will probably make the decision not to ever come back.
By installing caching plugins, you have the potential to improve your website speed quite a bit.
Choose a plugin that is compatible with different browsers and devices, along with being able to cache static assets such as images, CSS files, JavaScript code, and HTML pages.
Some reputable caching plugins are:
- WP Rocket
- WP Total Cache
- WP Super Cache
If you’re fortunate to be using SiteGround web hosting, they have their own amazing caching plugin called SiteGround Optimizer.
26. Put Google Suggestions to Good Use
Struggling to come up with topics to write about? No problem! Try putting Google’s suggestions feature to work for you. Just start typing your keyword into the search bar and watch as Google starts giving you suggestions.
In this scenario, I started typing “Email Marketing” within the box, and as I was typing, Google gave me a list of suggestions.

You can also check into what your competitors’ topics are to see what they published recently. Always try to one-up them by publishing content that is of higher quality.
27. Use Artificial Intelligence Writing Tools To Help You Write
There are a number of AI tools on the market that can help bloggers write in a human voice.

Currently, the most innovative tools, like Jasper, allow users to generate long-form content by utilizing an editor that functions similarly to Google Docs.
After you give the AI writer a description of the content, you want it to write, press “Compose” and watch it create content at lightning speed!
Some more advanced AI writing tools, like Jasper, come with Commands.
To have Jasper write a story for you, simply give it a command like “Write a story about how to learn how to ride a bike.”
You can use this software to guide the AI on what you want it to do in your blog post, such as “write a blog introduction for blogging tips for beginners” or “make a list for monetizing your blog.”
You get the idea!
I use Jasper AI to write the majority of my articles and social media content. With just the click of a button, this software will create a post in a matter of seconds!
Software programs that rely on artificial intelligence are becoming more and more common among bloggers.
You can find free and paid tools depending on your needs. In fact, I’m using AI to help write this very guide about blogging tips.
Not only can these AI tools assist you with writing blog posts and emails at 10x the rate of any human alive, but they also create original content that is free of plagiarism.
28. Add Opt-In Forms to Build Your Email List
One of the best ways to grow your email list is by adding opt-in forms to your blog posts.

This will allow your reader to sign up for your email list directly from the post itself.
There are a number of different lead generation tools that you can use to add opt-in forms to your blog posts, such as ConvertPro, OptinMonster, or Thrive Leads.
All of these lead generation list-building tools offer a wide variety of templates and designs that you can use, so you can find one that best suits your blog’s style.
Adding an opt-in form to each of your blog posts is a great way to grow your email list and keep your readers engaged.
29. Don’t Wait to Learn Everything Before You Start
There’s no such thing as knowing everything about blogging successfully. This state of mind is known as analysis paralysis.
If you over-analyze something in an attempt to reach an unattainable “perfect” standard, it will prevent you from taking any action.
Blogging is an ongoing journey, not a destination. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. The key is to get started and keep learning along the way.
30. Add An Affiliate Disclosure To Your Posts
By including affiliate links on your website, you have the potential to earn money whenever someone makes a purchase from Amazon or another site that you are linked to.
If you want to maintain a good reputation and avoid strict penalties and maybe more, from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), you should have an Affiliate Disclosure (disclaimer) in plain sight within your blog posts to inform your reader that you’ll receive compensation if they purchase a product through one of your affiliate links.
An affiliate disclosure informs your reader that you may be compensated by a company whose product or service you speak of within your content.
You can add an affiliate disclaimer using a shortcode within your WordPress blog template or add it manually to each post individually like I did with this one right before the Table of Contents.
If you’re looking for one to copy for yourself, here’s an example for you:
“Disclosure: If you purchase any of the products recommended in this blog post through our affiliate link(s), we may earn a commission. Please read our affiliate disclosure for more information.”
31. Invest in Good Blog Design
One of the best blogging tips for beginners that I can give you is to spend time on a quality user experience.
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to blogs. You may need to invest in a professional web designer to get the look you want.
If you can’t afford to hire someone for web design assistance, consider using a high-quality WordPress theme Divi by Elegant Themes.
Be sure to find a theme that meets your specific needs. Also, it is Responsive in design, SEO friendly, lightweight design for fast loading, and it’s updated often.
32. Create Search Engine Friendly URLs
If you want to receive more traffic from search engines, use shorter URLs that contain your target keyword phrase. This will make it easier for search engines to crawl your site and index your content.
By using short URLs containing the keyword phrase and nothing else, you are essentially telling search engines what your page is about.
Not only do shorter URLs appear higher in search results, but they are also much simpler for users to type out, which can improve their experience.
33. Add a Pinterest “Pin It” Button to Your Images
A social media plugin like SocialWarfare is beneficial because it supports multiple networks.
For example, SocialWarfare provides direct access to over 20 social media networks and online apps. This lets users share content quickly without having to individually post on each site.
We all know and love Pinterest, the image-based social media site.
With SocialWarfare’s “Pin It” button, readers can easily share your images on Pinterest without having to leave your site.
Whether it’s an infographic, a high-quality image, or a well-designed pin made just for Pinterest, the “Pin It” button makes it easy for your readers to share your content with their followers.
If you’re not ready to make a purchase SocialWarfare for this option, there are other free WordPress plugins that work just as well.
34. Create Sharable Content
Your content needs to be worth talking about if you want people to take notice.
One of the best ways to get more traffic to your blog is by creating content that is easy to share on social media.
This means that your blog posts will need to be unique, easy to read, and visually appealing.
You can do this by using short, skimmable paragraphs, numbered lists, BOLD headings, along images to help tell your story.
Be sure to use social sharing plugins like SocialWarfare to make it easy for your readers to share your content on their favorite social media sites.
A couple of thoughts:
- Is your blog content unique?
- Did you share original thoughts and perspectives that nobody else has discussed?
If you’re confident in your answer, then great! If not, keep working on it until you are.
A great way to make your writing stand out is to include original research, like data from surveys or your own experience.
35. Guest Post On Other Blogs
Guest posting is a great way to gain exposure for your blog and build relationships with other bloggers.
In terms of search engine optimization, it can give you a precious backlink or two (maybe more), which is an endorsement in the eyes of Google that your content is worth reading, giving you a boost in your rankings.
When you guest post on another blog, you are essentially lending your expertise to that blog.
In return, the blog owner will likely promote your post to their audience. This can be a great way to reach new readers and grow your blog’s audience.
Not only that, guest posting can help you build relationships with other bloggers. These relationships can be beneficial in terms of sharing information and advice, as well as promoting each other’s content.
36. Invest in Your Future with Online Courses
There are many courses available online that can help you improve your writing skills and give you insights into how to make money from blogging.
With so many options out there, it can be tough to know which one is right for you. With a little research, you should be able to find a course that will help take your blog to the next level.
Considering the skills you gain from each course, many of them are very affordable.
There are also many free courses available, although not as in-depth as paid courses, they can be a great place to start your blogging journey.
37. Make Internal Linking a Part of Your Content Strategy
Internal linking is a good idea because it helps keep people on your website longer, and it also helps with SEO.
The importance of internal linking cannot be stated well enough. By interlinking all the pages on your website through “Related Article > >” or linking words to a related article, you can drastically improve your SEO.
Dividing your content into different sections allows you to control the distribution of link juice on your site.
If you want your website to rank high on all search engines, not just Google, then follow these tips and don’t cut any corners with SEO.
Sure, it might take a little while for your site to get going, but when it does pick up steam, there’ll be no stopping it.
38. Encrypt Your Blog with an SSL Certificate
Installing an SSL certificate on your website encrypts the traffic passing through it, offering you and your visitors a higher level of security.

Here are a few other reasons to install an SSL certificate:
- It will protect your data
- Protects better against hackers
- Will help increase your search engine results
- It will establish trust with your audience
39. Choose the BEST Web Hosting
If you’re just starting a new blog online or even have an existing blog, and you want it to run smoothly, then you’ll need the BEST managed, WordPress web hosting provider that is reliable and efficient.
They should also be available 24/7 in case any issues arise that need to be fixed immediately.

After all, it is your blog site, reputation, and success that are on the line, so don’t be afraid to try out new providers if you’re not happy with your current one.
You may have heard of them before, most likely because they’ve been around from the beginning. Give SiteGround a try, it’s the web hosting I’ve been using for the past 5 years and have no interest in changing.
They are affordable, reliable, super-fast, offer great customer service, and come with free business email, free CDN (content delivery network), along with many other freebies that would normally cost extra with other web hosting services.
SiteGround has everything you need to run a successful blog, and costs start right around $2.99 a month.

40. Read Your Blog Post Out Loud Before You Publish
Reading your blog posts, whether first draft or final draft, out loud is an important thing to do before you publish your post.
By proofreading out loud, you increase your chances of catching errors that would normally go unnoticed.
While reading out loud, be sure to look for the following:
- Fluff – While reading aloud, remove the unneeded extra words.
- Sentences that don’t make any sense – Do you need to explain any of the points you made in further detail?
- Repetition – There’s no need to keep saying the same thing over and over
- Errors – Pay close attention to spelling and grammar mistakes
- Organization – Is your article easy to read, or does it feel choppy?
After you’ve made all your changes, it’s time to read your text out loud again.
I’m surprised at how many times I catch additional grammatical errors, misspellings, or areas that don’t make any sense after I’ve already proofread and edited my work.
This has happened to me more than once: After reading my article out loud several times, I still catch errors.
Even if a sentence is grammatically correct, it may not sound natural when read by native English speakers.
I use Grammarly for my spelling errors, but I don’t rely on it except for basic corrections. I’ve caught it so many times, not making any sense after a correction. Grammarly isn’t perfect!
Over the last 10 years that I’ve been blogging, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned was to read my drafts out loud.
41. Add Alt Text to Images
Alt text is the written copy that appears in place of an image on a webpage if the image does not load properly for the user.
The Alt text was created for the blind or those that have low vision It allows them to understand the images included in your post.
By including clear and concise descriptions of images on your website, you can help improve the experience for visually impaired readers who use screen-reading tools, as well as make it easier for search engines to crawl and rank your site.
Image alt text can do a lot for your website, including turning your images into hyperlinked search results. This gives your site yet another way to receive organic traffic.
Something important for search engines is to include keywords within your text, this actually helps boost your rankings. Every little bit helps!
42. Optimize for On-Page SEO
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the most effective ways to drive targeted traffic back to your blog.
SEO is the act of making your site more visible to search engines to drive more traffic back to your site. It’s also important if you want your website to be found on Google.
By utilizing the on-page SEO method, you’ll allow potential readers to find your content when you use specific keywords and phrases.
Top-earning bloggers will have a tendency to focus heavily on SEO. For most high-income bloggers, Google organic search is their number one source of traffic.
Through the years, engineers have continuously improved search engine algorithms, making SEO more targeted.
“Even Google has specifically stated that this is the Best Way to build an authoritative website. As long as you have the patience to do it right and not game the system, you shouldn’t have to worry about penalties. Simply post quality content consistently, and you’ll move up the rankings.”
Although SEO can take many months to actually show rankings for your website, it’s still the best-targeted source of traffic for any person’s internet-based business.
It’s also the BEST long-term marketing strategy anybody can use that will pay off for many years to come.
43. Update Your Old Blog Posts
If you want your blog to be successful, don’t just republish old articles. You should update them so that they are current and relevant!
The most sensible move is to use a keyword tool, like SurferSEO or RankIQ, with your post to see how you can make it better.
A few more changes will help your article stand out and increase its chances of ranking on Google and being seen!
44. Reinvest Back Into Your Blog
If you’re already generating revenue from your blog, I suggest reinvesting it back into your site to improve it rather than spending the money on non-necessary items.
If you reinvest a portion of your blog’s earnings, you’ll eventually find new ways to be productive and improve your overall profit.
Though it may be painful to let go of that initial income, in the long run, it will be well worth your while. Another perk to investing time and money into developing your blog is gaining a new perspective on your business as a whole.
For many people, blogging has turned into more than just a fun activity- it’s now something they’re willing to invest their time and money in.
45. Start With an Outline to Help with Your Writing
Going back to basic writing lessons taught in school, an outline is key to success because it covers all desired points before starting to write.
5 good reasons to start with an outline:
- A blog post outline will save time

- You can easily outsource your work
46. Create Headlines to Stop Readers in Their Tracks
If you spend any time creating content, chances are you’ve spent just as much time crafting the perfect headline.
Your headline is the first thing that your potential reader sees. If your headlines aren’t attention-grabbing, readers will move on to something else.
Your headline should be a creative, attention-grabbing statement that interests your reader.
Making headlines that compel your reader to stop and read needs to be a top priority.
Your headlines must not only reveal what your article offers but also be intriguing enough to make someone want to click on it.
47. Post Published Content On Social Media
Social media is an excellent platform for bloggers to share their content! It allows you to reach a larger audience than you would with just Google.
It’s essential to have a website and social media presence if you want people to find your work!
48. Write High-Quality Content
It may seem obvious that content should be high-quality, but you might be surprised at how many people just throw things at their audience and hope something works.
Writing high-quality content is important because it’s one of the best ways to connect with your audience.
When you write quality content, you’re providing value to your readers and helping them learn something new.
Quality content is also more likely to be shared on social media, which can help you reach a larger audience.
It is crucial that the content you produce is high-quality; otherwise, why would your audience want to come back for more?
49. Add Images to Your Blog Post
Images are a great way to break up your article content and keep your readers engaged.
Images also help to illustrate your points and make your blog posts more visually appealing.
When selecting images for your blog post, it’s important to choose ones that are of high quality and relevant to the topic.
You can also use images to add personality to your blog post and create a stronger connection with your readers.
50. Add Meta Descriptions to Your Blog Posts
Adding a meta description is a good way to help people decide whether or not to read your article.
The meta description is a summary of your article or even a short intro. Think of it as bait for readers, luring them in so they’ll want to know more about what you have to say.
The meta description gives potential readers a taste of what your article is about and entices them to click on it.
It’s important to make sure that your meta description accurately represents the content of your article because you want people to have a good experience when they visit your blog.
51. Write Long-Form Blog Posts
While they may require more of your time to write, research has shown that longer articles rank higher in Google and other search engines.
Long-form content is a great way to show your expertise on a topic and connect with your audience. When you write longer articles, you’re providing more value to your readers and helping them learn something new.
Long-form content is also more likely to be shared on social media, which can help you reach a larger audience.
So, if you’re looking to connect with your audience and rank higher in search engines, writing long-form articles is the only way to go!
52. Use Numbers In Your Blog Headlines
Adding a number to your blog post title makes it more likely that people will click on it. Google also seems to rank articles higher when they include numbers in their headlines.
Adding numbers to your blog headline is a great way to encourage readers to click on your article. Blog posts that contain numbers are usually called “Listicle” posts.
When people see a number in a headline, they’re more likely to think the article contains valuable information.
Numbers also help to break up the text and make your blog posts more visually appealing, they also have a tendency to generate 73% more social shares.
53. Use a Conversational Tone
When you write in a conversational tone, you make it easier for your readers to connect with you. You’re not just talking at them, but rather having a conversation with them.
When you write in a conversational tone, you’re also more likely to be authentic and transparent. This can help build trust with your readers.
The purpose of your blog is to engage with people and make a difference in their lives. Who wants to read from someone who sounds like a robot or a salesman or is always negative?
If you’re passionate about what you do, it will show!
54. Start a YouTube Channel
One great way to reach a wider audience is to start a YouTube channel.

Most people find YouTube videos more engaging than written content, especially in certain niches such as fashion, food, and travel.
When you create videos, you’re providing your audience with valuable information and giving them a chance to see you in action.
People are visual creatures, so if you want to reach a wider audience, consider creating video content in addition to writing.
55. Compress Your Blog’s Images
Compressing your blog’s images can help make your site run faster.
This is because compressed images take up less space, which translates to your blog posts and pages loading more quickly.
My favorite image compression tool is Smush for WordPress. It’s free and easy to use, plus it doesn’t affect the quality of your images like some other compressors do.
Large files will only drag down the performance of your site, so keep them small. The best format for photos are JPEGs and PNGs. They’ll load quickly while still looking great.
56. Add Social Share Buttons to Your Blog
If someone enjoys your content and would like to share it across their own social media platform, you should make the process easy for them!

Adding social share buttons to your blog is also a great way to increase traffic and reach a larger audience.
When people see buttons for sharing your content on social media, they’re more likely to click on them. This can help you reach a larger audience with your content.
Social media is a great way to connect with people and share your ideas and content with the world, so make it easy for them to share your work.
57. Join Blogging Communities Within Your Niche
If you want to be successful, consider joining a blogging group on social media.
If you surround yourself with like-minded people, you will be constantly exposed to new and helpful tips and tricks.
If you’re new to blogging, this is a great approach to help you get started.
If you haven’t quite built up your customer base yet, you may not be sure what content they would want to see. Joining some online communities related to your niche is a great way to help with this issue!
Some well-known communities are Facebook Groups, Medium, Triberr, Blokube, Kingged, and BizSugar.
There’s a bunch more out there, so run a quick Google search for ‘Blogging Communities‘.
It’s key that you do more than simply passively browse online communities. Make sure to put yourself out there, introduce yourself, and join conversations instead of just sitting behind the scenes.
58. Write Evergreen Blog Posts
Publishing longer, evergreen content pieces will ensure that the information you’re sharing will be relevant for many years to come.
If you’re not familiar with what evergreen content is – it’s web-based content that is continually relevant and engaging for readers over an extended period of time.
One of the best reasons to write timeless content is that it will never go out of style, no matter what current trends are.
Evergreen content is crucial because it focuses on matters that are essential and always relevant, such as how-tos or tips for a given activity.
People will always want to learn about these types of topics, so publishing enduring content can help you grow your readership.
Not only is evergreen content so much more helpful, but it also stays informative for longer than trend-based posts.
Your evergreen content will be referred to more often than something that only has a short shelf life.
59. Create a Call to Action for Each Blog Post
A call to action is when you prompt your readers to do something, such as read a related blog post, opt-in for your freebie, share your blog post on social media, or make a purchase.
Essentially, it is saying, “Hey, you finished this post, but make sure to also read this other great article!”

It’s a good idea to add a call to action because it encourages people to take the next step.
When you include a call to action in your content, it tells your readers what you want them to do and makes it easy for them to do it.
